Power is a word the meaning of which we do not understand.

Leo Tolstoy
About This Quote

Power is a word the meaning of which we do not understand. It is an abstract concept that cannot be defined in words. All that we can say about it is that it is a force, a kind of energy, something that makes us feel strong and able to accomplish great things. In terms of its origin, power can be traced to the Latin word potestas, which means “the ability to do or have something.” In other words, it has to do with the ability to accomplish something through the use of one's resources. Power divorced from resourcefulness is useless.
